Abstract
Desmoplastic fibroma of bone is a rare, benign fibrous lesion that is made up of wavy fibroblasts and abundant collagenous tissue. The cellular structure and the morphological arrangement are similar to those of aggressive fibromatosis of soft tissue. Radiographically, the lesion is difficult to distinguish from other lesions such as a unicameral bone cyst, fibrous dysplasia, chondromyxoid fibroma, non-ossifying fibroma, giant cell tumor of bone, and fibrosarcoma of bone. Histologically, it can be confused with a low-grade fibrosarcoma, chondromyxoid fibroma, fibrous displasia, and non-ossifying fibroma. The authors experienced a case of desmoplastic fibroma developed in metacarpal bone. The treatment was on-bloc resection and autogenous bone graft.
